I never chose people who surround me. It was always school, and later, courses and university. I would not say that I have bad surroundings. I'm grateful that I met these people and appreciate tons of memories I had with them. They were with me in my great and terrible days, they know what I like and what I don't. Aside from general common things we share with everyone in friend group, I have unique common things with every single of them. For example, I can discuss deep sciencific stuff with one of them, while another friend is good for lifting mood with some witty humor. I enjoy spending time with them and I really feel comfortable.
However, when it comes to vision of the future, perspectives, big plans, and generally the path — there is no one in my friend group who even close to me. Honestly, I never heard them talk about anything big for their future. This is surprising for me because I've always been a big dreamer and ambitious person. My surroundings would never lift me higher. At least because they have different paths.
«Surround yourself with only people who are going to lift you higher»

I started realizing it when I was observing blogs of people who went study abroad. One thing about them was that in their comments you could find even more successful students. And you go to their blog channels as well, and again find more successful people in comments who are worthy of admiration. They all have connections. It is a very powerful thing.
I really regret that I don't have such intellegent and ambitious people around me, who would also have similar interests and goals in life.
